Phoenix American Restaurants (0)

It’s a little difficult to define American food in the sense of an American restaurant. When one thinks of American food they probably think of cheeseburgers, buffalo wings & pizza. Even though pizza is technically Italian and all junk food should not be synonymous with ‘American food’, many people have a hard time truly understanding what American cuisine actually is. American restaurants in Phoenix define American cuisine beautifully, serving their own versions of America’s best dishes from all different regions of the country. This article will highlight two of the best and most unique American dining experiences one can enjoy in Phoenix.

Chelsea’s Kitchen, located on North 40th Street, is a true American dining experience. With a menu consisting primarily of various types of chicken, steak, hamburgers & salads, nearly everything on the menu could be classified as American. Even their taco selection is surprisingly American with short rib and sliced roast pork as two of choices they give you for the meat. Everything from their fried chicken to their daily fresh fish selection is worth trying. While a little bit pricier than most other American restaurants in the area, Chelsea’s Kitchen makes up for that with their consistently good food and over-the-top service.

The second recommendation has to be Rokerij. While defined as a traditional American restaurant, Rokerij also serves popular Mexican and German entrees. Two of their most popular menu items are the surf & turf, consisting of a 6 oz. tenderloin, jumbo grilled shrimp and two Dungeness crab enchiladas, and the rack of lamb. They offer a ‘small plate’ deal where you can mix and match any of their appetizers for a fixed price. The ambiance of the downstairs bar makes for a great place to take a date and the upstairs dining area and bar is perfect for any social occasion. The slightly pricey entrees are certainly made up for in overall value.

The restaurants described above are not your average American chain restaurant. They don’t serve greasy hamburgers, mediocre cuts of beef and the servers don’t wear striped shirts with buttons. Both Chelsea’s Kitchen & Rokerij push the envelope of American cuisine while maintaining a unique, memorable dining experience with delicious food to boot. For their consistently great food and service, the two restaurants described above have been chosen as the best Phoenix American restaurants.
