There are a number of advantages to living in Phoenix, AZ. One of the most convenient new features in the greater Phoenix area is the addition of the Valley Metro Light Rail. Living in apartments near Phoenix light rail really opens a world of opportunity. Hopefully you don’t read the newspaper and enjoy a cup of coffee on your way to work in rush hour traffic, but if you live in apartments near light rail you open your commute time up and give yourself a little more free time to read your balance your checkbook, return emails, read your favorite magazine or just get a little more rest each day. Just imagine all of the extra stuff you can do in a day.
Another thing that is often overlooked is the health benefit of adding a little extra walking or a bike ride into your routine each day. Unless you are lucky enough to have an office with a light rail stop immediately adjacent to it, you are likely to be like the majority of New Yorkers that have a combination of a subway ride and some walking to get to work each day. Often people with this type of daily routine are in better shape than your typical suburbanite that walks everywhere. A number of doctors are recommending that people incorporate at least 10,000 steps into their day.
Eventually you may find yourself thinking about dumping your car all together. Imagine the amount of money you would save on gas, car insurance, maintenance and car payments. If you didn’t catch our last article on Zipcar, you might find before too long that you no longer even have a need for a personal car. Look at the number of miles you travel each day and ask yourself if you could have walked, ridden your bike or taken light rail. Look at the number of miles where you absolutely needed a vehicle. If you look at the actual time you would have need your own vehicle and then look at the cost of that vehicle, you might find it hard to beat the $8.00 an hour it costs to use a Zipcar when you really need one.
Living in Phoenix apartments really does present some great opportunities if you stop and take a look around you. Try using the light rail or any of the other great public transportation options that are available to Phoenix residents, you’ll be glad you did.
