Dick’s Hideaway, located on North 16th street, is open from at least 8 A.M. to midnight and serves hearty Southwestern breakfasts every day until four in the afternoon. While the green pork chops & eggs, breakfast quesadilla and eggs Benedict jalapeno make the breakfast menu irresistible, the lunch and dinner items are just as great and reasonable in price. One should definitely try their red river chile soup and their carne adovada. Being one of the most sought after restaurants in the entire city of Phoenix, seating is still usually available and the service is outstanding.

The other Phoenix Southwestern restaurant that must be mentioned is named Z’Tejas. Located on North Tatum Boulevard, this chain restaurant first began in Austin, Texas and still retains its title of having some of the best Southwestern cuisine you will ever taste. Now with over ten restaurants in the Western United States, Z’Tejas is most famous for their wonderful cornbread that comes with every meal. Their Chambord margaritas are guzzled by a majority of their clientele for good reason. If not sure what to get, don’t hesitate to try the Diablo pasta or the grilled miso salmon. The restaurant is known for their wonderful service and their bartenders are always seem to be friendly company when sitting at the bar.

Arizona is about as Southwest as you can get and there are a lot of restaurants that put on a façade of being a down-home Southewestern restaurant when they’re really nothing better than an average Tex-Mex restaurant.
