Tempe Seafood Restaurants
Even though Tempe is completely landlocked and hundreds of miles from the nearest source of fresh seafood, quite a few seafood restaurants in Tempe have established themselves over the years. Some of the restaurants tend to be mediocre while others would have you thinking that you’re dining on the Mediterranean coast. While the relative distance to the sea usually indicates whether or not the prices will be high in seafood restaurants, Tempe seafood restaurant owners have managed to make a lot of the prices somewhat affordable. This article will give you two recommendations on the best seafood restaurants in the city of Tempe.
The first that has to be mentioned is most certainly Casey Moore’s Oyster House. Located in Old Town Tempe at the crossroads of 9th and Ash Street, Casey Moore’s Oyster House has established itself as not only one of the best seafood restaurants in Tempe, but also one of the best Irish pubs and places to grab a steak as well. This bar/restaurant, while known for their great food, is popular with the bar crowd at nearly every hour of the day. The restaurant even has a beautiful outdoor patio complete with bicycle parking. Fitting to the name, the oysters are truly delicious and their deep-fried calamari is a local favorite. Sitting on the patio in a lawn chair, beer in hand, is a great way to enjoy one of their many sandwiches as well. Casey Moore’s Oyster House is a Tempe tradition and not going anywhere anytime soon.
King’s Fish House is another Tempe seafood restaurant that is a local favorite. King’s Fish House is open for both lunch and dinner and features an excellent wine list to boot. In comparison to other seafood restaurants in the area, King’s is actually quite reasonable. Their appetizers range from jumbo lump crab to grilled artichoke and some of their more famous entrees include the oyster sampler and their current variation of wild salmon. The service is outstanding and their beer selection is wide-ranging, especially for a restaurant.
All-in-all, many of the seafood restaurants in the Valley serve pretty good seafood. The way in which they differ is selection, freshness, and overall quality of the food. Understand that the two restaurants described above, Casey Moore’s Oyster House and the King’s Fish House, have better selection and quality than most seafood restaurants you’d find anywhere in the United States.
